Eriech Tapia, 22, is a student at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond and is pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree. In 2017, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Professional Media and a minor in Public Relations from UCO.
Currently, he covers the city of Edmond for the Oklahoman, which includes crime, civic affairs and development stories. Future plans include a Ph.D. in Political Science.
He has received multiple awards for journalism during five years of reporting and as editor-in-chief for two of those years. Included is the Oklahoma Press Association’s Award for Promise in Journalism. He has reported from Cuba, Turkey, Greece, France, England and throughout the United States. He is from Sand Springs, Okla., and is a graduate of Charles Page High School.
